09.15.02 Duvall to be on Thick Records "OIL" compilation

Chicago's very own punk rock epicenter, THICK Records, has come up with an awesome idea and the finest punk bands the Windy City has to offer are all jumping on board. As a semi-follow up to 2000's Magnetic Curses compilation, THICK is putting together OIL "Chicago Punk Refined." The recording for OIL will take place from September 4-18 and will be done in The Homan Oil Factory on Chicago's South Side. Acts scheduled to take part include the Alkaline Trio, Rise Against, Detachment Kit, The Dishes, The Owls, The Tossers, The Arrivals, Lawrence Arms, Duvall and Plain White Tees to name a few.
THICK VP Billy Spunke looks at Chicago's blue collar work ethic and industrial past as the creative force behind the project. He said, "Chicago has always been known for its blue collar work ethic. The reputation stems from the history of the city's stockyards, railways, airports, shipping industry, even the vocal inflection of Mayor Daley. The music that is created here also shares such an obvious ethic and attitude." Spunke hopes to capture that ethic with each band on the compilation. According to the label's publicist, OIL "Chicago Punk Refined" will be released in January of 2003.
